So one time I asked my Dad… “Dad, how do I make boat loads of money?” Really what I was asking is “how do I get started in sales?” I just didn’t know it yet. Here’s how that conversation went with my dad.

And, he told me that I had 3 options.

  1. Was I going to be a celebrity?
  2. Was I going to get rich winning the lotto?
  3. Or, I would need to learn to sell.

So, off I went on my sales journey. Fast-forward to the tune of having sold millions of dollars in many different industries, settings, capacities. Software, Hardware, NGOs, several thousand sales presentations in each sector. There’s a lot I have learned and experienced.

It starts with being human. Sales is conversational and communicating. It is fact finding and learning. Sales brings two or more people together to find solutions to a problem. Solving and executing the path for results. Whether you’re selling packages, products, consumables, software, hardware, a combination of both, services, business services… Whatever you sell. To sell is human.

Sales is an exchange that happens between the sales professional and the buyer. This exchange takes place when the value of the cash purchase is perceived as less than the value to the buyer of the “item / product or service.” Typically sales pros come in especially when the purchase is higher dollar value.

Sales are a part of everyday life, as consumers are constantly faced with buying decisions.
